The Physical Experience

  • The Water: Filled with roughly 10–12 inches of water saturated with 1,000+ lbs of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate). The water density matches the specific gravity of the body, allowing you to float effortlessly without sinking or holding any muscle tension.

  • Temperature Neutrality: The water and air inside the tank are heated to skin temperature (~93.5°F / 34.1°C). After a few minutes of remaining still, the boundary between your body and the water dissolves, giving you the perception of floating in weightless space.

  • Light and Sound: Once the heavy-duty enclosure lid is closed, external light and ambient sound are completely blocked. Internal LED lighting and soft music can typically be controlled via buttons inside the pod.

Sensory & Mental State

  • Physical Weightlessness: Deprived of gravity’s load on joints and muscles, the central nervous system drops its baseline alertness, relaxing spinal compression and relieving deep tension.

  • Brainwave Shifts: Within 20–30 minutes, brainwave activity shifts from active Alpha or Beta states down to Theta waves—the slow frequency associated with deep meditation, vivid imagery, and the threshold of sleep.

  • Sensory Rebound: Without visual or tactile input to process, auditory perception turns inward, making your breathing and heart rate distinctly audible.
